Greenhouse production and management involves the propagation and production of herbaceous ornamental plants in environmentally controlled greenhouses, for later use in gardens, homes, and exterior or interior plantscaping. Floriculture greenhouse businesses produce and market their products to garden centers, floral shops, the mass market, and directly to the public.

Participants learn hands-on propagation, starting from a seed or cuttings from other plants. Common varieties are: Ivy, Begonia, Fern, Poinsettia, Violets, Euphoria, Geraniums and Hydrangea. Opportunities may include planting of field stock, plant maintenance, harvesting, grading, and preparing wholesale or retail orders. Placements range between family run operations on 1 or 2 acres to companies with 2 million square feet of indoor greenhouses. Placements start January - March and are for 6 months. Some 12-month placements available.
